A corporate business jet operated by a company from Nation A crashes in a neighborhood in Nation B while attempting to land at the nearby airport during a thunderstorm. Many homes and businesses are damaged or destroyed and there are numerous deaths and injuries among people on the ground. If both Nation A & B are signatories to the Rome Convention (the Convention on Damages to Third Parties Caused by Foreign Aircraft), will those people and businesses be required to prove that some act of negligence by the aircraft operator caused the crash, in order to receive compensation from that aircraft operator? Explain. If either or both Nations A and/or B was/were not signatories to the Rome Convention, how would your answer differ? The Rome Convention is an example of what kind of law?
