A huge reason why mice are used is that their genetics and behavioral characteristics are very close to humans. So, having an animal model for Huntington’s Disease would help scientists be able to study the disease further and make advancements in treatment options in a far less costly and a much safer way than studying it in humans. Mice as animal models can also help in a huge way because their lifespans are very short compared to humans (they only live about 2-3 years).
