Geoengineering methods to control global warming are criticized because the results are unpredictable and may have negative impact on the climate and atmosphere.

Geoengineering involves deliberate large scale intervention to counteract climatic changes in the natural systems of the Earth. The geoengineering falls under two main strategies: removal of carbon di oxide and heat reduction. Currently the two methods which are proposed are solar radiation management which involves counteracting the rise in temperature due to increased level of the greenhouse gases by reflecting a small part of energy received by the sun back to the space and carbon geoengineering which aims the removal of carbon dioxide by directly countering ocean acidification and the greenhouse effect. Due to geoengineering and suddenly reducing the temperature can cause changes and hazardous climatic conditions all over the world. The global wind patterns might change abruptly .
