Bacterial strain E.coli reproduce by asexual mode of reproduction. The bacterial cell simply undergoes cell division, to produce two equal daughter cells. The individual cell undergoes this process by elongation of the cell, followed by the formation of the exact replica of the genome which can be distributed to two daughter cells after cell division. This is the simplest mode of reproduction and does not involves the expense of energy. Hence, it is an advantage over the sexually reproducing organisms, which requires formation of gametes to produce offsprings.
