How does fox in the snow relate to the cycle of life?

Foxes don’t live in packs but they will still find each other when it is the time for mating. Once a pair has mated they continue doing so every year afterwards until the death of one of them. The pair will meet in the course of the year for grooming and social interactions. This makes the foxes unique from the other animals only meet up during the mating period. They normally have powerful scents which help them to find each other. During the mating period, the male partner strongly defends its partner in case any other male tries to come near it.  The small males find it hard to find their partners due to the protection and the power of the older males. Due the vegetation and the temperatures of the snow areas, the mating period is mainly during the winter months. The males will be round to help the female with the young ones.
