Why do sex linked disorders affect males more than females?

To answer your question:
Females have two X chromosomes, while males have an X AND Y. I took Bio last semester but I’m almost positive that sex linked disorders are linked to the X chromosome.
Females have two X chromosomes, as I said before. If one X is defected with coding for the disorder, the other X takes the lead and covers for the disorder-coding X. That’s why women are less affected, because if one X is messed up they have that extra X (or should I say Xtra X lol wow puns sorry) to cover up. So in women, diseases can be masked.
In males, however, they rarely can. If we already said that sex linked disorders are related to the X chromosome, what can we infer about men, who only have one X? They lack that second X to cover up. So if one X, their only X, is defected, there is no other cover up. The Y is a totally different chromosome that doesn’t even relate to the disorder. Thus, men are especially vulnerable to disorders that run in families, while females are more protected by that extra X. And for the previous commenter, I think women win this one...
