Homozygous recessive: When a cell carries both recessive alleles for a particular gene. It is mentioned with the help of two lowercase letters. For example, yy. Heterozygous: When a cell carries different alleles for a particular gene. For example, Yy. The allele which gets expressed in heterozygous condition is termed as dominant and the one which is not expressed is termed as a recessive allele.

Now, in heterozygous condition (Yy) the color of the pods is green. Hence, it must be the dominant character which is coded by allele "Y". Similarly, the green-colored pod is a recessive trait which is coded by "y" when present in homozygous condition.
