In animal cells mitochondrians are unique organelles in that they contain a genome of their own. There are small circular chromosones in each mitchchondria for some of the mitchodria protiens. But the mitochondria chromosones do not have genes for the all the protiens in the found in the mitchondria. The genes from the remaning protiens are found in in the cellular genome which is found in the nucleus.
