Why are scientists concerned about species loss even though extinction is a natural process?

Because, when more species start to become extinct it disrupts the balance of the earth. For instance if spiders became extinct, the numbers of insects would exponentially grow. Which will become a problem for farmers, and more diseases  would most likely  occur.
