Ahospitalized child has a pulse oximeter attached to his finger. what interventions would the nurse implement in caring for this client?

A pulse oximeter is a common device in all hospitals and in a Doctor's office. This reads the oxygen saturation in an adult and child. It can be attached to the finger or even to a patients earlobe. The intervention that the nurse would implement is to record the patient's oxygen level and inform a DR if the reading drops to 90 or below. The nurse will also need to make sure the child does not move the oximeter off of his/her finger. The device can be attached to any finger, and if for some reason, the child is moving to much to get an accurate reading, it can be attached to a toe also.
