Evaluating Classical Civilizations of Asia and the Americas In this activity, you will review five classical civilizations and research and choose a civilization that you think is the “best civilization of all.” You will then write a paragraph to justify your selection.
Part A
The classical era saw the rise of many great empires, including the Han dynasty of China, the Gupta Empire of India, and the Aztec, Inca, and Maya Empires of the Americas. In the table, fill in the name of the classical empire associated with each achievement.
Part B
Consider the five civilizations you studied in this unit. Write a paragraph for each civilization. Each of your five paragraphs should address these points:
The geographical location of each civilization. You can also mention how geography played a role in the civilization’s founding, if applicable.
The time period during which the civilization existed. Be sure to list the year the civilization began, and the year it ended.
The important achievements or contributions of each civilization. You should include any significant advancements attributed to each civilization.
The important leaders or rulers of each civilization.
The reason or reasons for the end or decline of each civilization.
Part C
Think about the five civilizations you studied and their accomplishments. Choose the one civilization that you think is the most outstanding. Write a brief paragraph stating which civilization you think is the “best” and explain why you selected it. Use information from the lessons to support your answer.
