What must be true of the concentration of potassium and sodium inside the neuron? Why can some ions move across membranes but others cannot?
How would permeability change if types of channels in a neuron change?
What is the purpose of having leak and gated channels for the neuron?
What are the charges both inside and outside of the neuron before you click the stimulate neuron button?
What are the charges both inside and outside of the neuron after the simulation is complete?
What happens to the charge during the stimulation?
What happens after the gated channels close?
How many potassium ions move into the cell while how many sodium ions move out of the cell?
What does the yellow line represent that runs along the neuron?

anser
The concentration of potassium and sodium prior to stimulating the neuron means there must be a higher concentration of potassium within the cell and a higher concentration of sodium outside the cell.
The semipermeable membrane means that there is selectivity in which ions can move across a membrane.
The permeability would change depending on the different channels used in the neuron. Depending on these, the neuron could become more or less selective.
The purpose of the leak and gated channels is to facilitate different types of movement. The gated channels only open when the neuron is stimulated. The leak channels are open all of the time and permit passive diffusion.
The charge on the insight of the cell is negative and the charge on the outside of the cell is positive.
The charge on the insight of the cell is negative and the charge on the outside of the cell is positive.
The charge actually flips and the positive charge is on the inside of the cell and the negative charge is on the outside of the cell.
After the gated channels close, the ions that were going to move in through the gated channels moved over to the leak channels to enter or exit the neuron.
Two potassium ions move back into the cell while three sodium ions move out of the cell.
This line represents the membrane potential of the neuron.
