What geologic processes must have occurred for fossil ammonites (relatives to the nautilus that dominated oceans hundreds of years ago) to now be found in rocks at the highest mountains on Earth?? 2. What would our planet look like if it contained no radioactive isotopes within it? What would it look like if radioactivity were producing twice as much heat within Earth’s interior?

The answers are that the geological process responsible for fossils being found on high mountains today is called Orogeny Tectonics. With no radioactive isotopes, the Earth's geography would be vastly different and void of life. If radioactivity produced twice as much heat the earth would become unstable.

The discovery of fossil ammonites within rocks at the highest mountains on Earth is due to orogenic plate tectonics. Plate tectonics is the name we use to describe a process in which pieces of the earth's crust move and often slam into each other, causing one of these to pile onto the other.

This can lead to the formation of mountains and mountain ranges. This process helps to explain why fossils of ammonites known to dwell in the ocean can be found in mountains.

Radioactive isotopes, or better yet, the decaying of radioactive isotopes, are responsible for generating most of the Earth's internal heat. The internal heat of the earth is the driving force of plate tectonics and without it, much of the geological activities responsible for the earth's current geography would not have happened.

Radioactive isotopes were vital in allowing for the conditions of the earth at the time that life evolved, and the heat they produce allows the earth to have a molten core and thus generate a magnetic field for protection.

Now, if the heat produced by radioactive isotopes were to double, the  Earth's internal temperature would nearly double. Since this heat is the driving force for plate tectonics, we can expect a sharp increase in the number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. These can, in turn, cause tsunamis and changes to the earth's global temperature. Mountains would form continuously and continents may break apart. This instability would make life on earth's surface improbable.
