Below is a pre-mRNA sequence that was transcribed from an imaginary gene 3โ€™- -5โ€™

a) Denote where the poly- A tail would be on the pre-mRNA strand above by typing in a string of five Aโ€™s (note there would normally be ~200). Answer must be on the strand above.

b) Use a โ€œ$G$โ€ to denote the 5โ€™cap on the pre-mRNA above. Answer must be on the strand above.

c) Imagine that the underlined nucleotides in bold are introns. Give the numerical length of two mature mRNA products that could be generated after splicing is completed.

d) Next to each product length in part c above, identify the specific parts of the pre-mRNA used in each of the lengths. For example, the first intron is intron 1, the second is intron 2, etc. and the first exon is exon 1, the second is exon 2, etc. Label the strand above with Intron and exon numbers so that you can easily refer to them in your descriptions that are added next to the numbers generated in part c above.
