100 POINTS search about any of these organisms • Rabbits in Australia , • Zebra mussel , • Purple loosestrife , • Brushtail possum in New Zealand and answer these questions

As you are researching your organism, keep in mind the following questions. Use the space after each question to take notes during your research.

1. Where is this organism found?

2. How was this organism transported to its new ecosystem? Was it intentionally transported, and if so, for what reason?

3. Why is this organism able to spread so rapidly in its new ecosystem?

4. What is the effect of this organism on the ecosystem’s current food web?

5. Is this organism affecting the lives of humans? If so, how?

6. Are there any plans for controlling or removing this organism?

Use your research to write 3-5 well-constructed paragraphs that answer all of the questions. Your paper should be 1–1.5 pages long, double-spaced, using 12 pt. font. Make sure to list any sources you used in answering the questions (including the sources above, if used).

The dna in a cell’s nucleus encodes proteins that are eventually targeted to every membrane and compartment in the cell, as well as proteins that are targeted for secretion from the cell. for example, consider these two proteins: phosphofructokinase (pfk) is an enzyme that functions in the cytoplasm during glycolysis. insulin, a protein that regulates blood sugar levels, is secreted from specialized pancreatic cells. assume that you can track the cellular locations of these two proteins from the time that translation is complete until the proteins reach their final destinations.for each protein, identify its targeting pathway: the sequence of cellular locations in which the protein is found from when translation is complete until it reaches its final (functional) destination. (note that if an organelle is listed in a pathway, the location implied is inside the organelle, not in the membrane that surrounds the organelle.)
