B. When researchers were discovering the details of DNA, they learned the specific width of the DNA
molecule with X-Ray crystallography. Researchers also learned that Purines and Pyrimidines are the
two types of nitrogenous bases found in DNA. Once these researchers determined the sizes of Purines
and Pyrimidines they realized that Adenosine could only pair with Thymine, and Cytosine could only
pair with Guanine. Use your understanding of base pairing and evidence from Model 2 to explain how
researchers figured this out.
