Tundra is the coldest biome on planet earth and it is basically of three types –  

a)  Arctic Tundra – It supports small plants and there are total 1700 varieties of them. Since the soil is frozen deep root tress are not supported. Animals such as arctic foxes, lemmings, wolves, polar bears, squirrels, salmon, etc are also able to survive in this biome.

b)Antarctic Tundra – Among the plant species one can easily find ichens, grasses, liverworts, and mosses and among the animal species one can easily find seals, penguins, rabbits, and albatross.
