Based on its function, where would you likely find simple squamous epithelium?

Squamous epithelium is a single cell layer and is often located in areas that require permeability and diffusion i.e. the alveoli of the lungs. Due to its structure, it has the ability to pass molecules across its membrane easily, for example the diffusion of air through the alveoli.
