Thus enzymatic process of breakdown of these macromolecules include digestion, oxidation of the smaller molecules derived from digestion starting from the cytosol and completion in the mitochondria in a two stage process: glycolysis and the citric acid cycle. Thus ATP produced after these processes which is then used to drive biochemical reactions and other cellular activities.
