Pixel is the smallest unit of an image.

In digital imagery, a pixel represents the smallest unit of which an image is composed of. Usually a pixel is a small square unit that group together in close proximity to each other in such a way that appear connected.  A single image is made up of millions of pixels that are arranged in row or columns.  

The quality of an image depends on its resolution i.e the number of pixel displayed at a point.
