Goal Your goal is to review the functions of and to evaluate the importance of the parts of the cell through the creation of a Journal article.

Role

You are a contributing writer to a monthly biological journal that is devoted to the cell.

Audience

The audience is the managing editorial board of the Journal.

Situation

You have been assigned to write an article that will be published at the time of the Summer Olympics. In this article, you must give "Olympic style" awards to the parts of the cell based upon their importance within the cell. You will award a bronze to the third most valuable part of the cell, a silver medal to the second most valuable part, and a gold medal to the most important part. Your job is to make a strong case to your editorial board as to why your three selections are correct.

Performance Task

To present your final case to the Editorial Board, you must enter your final product as a written paper in .doc format. Your final product must give your three selections and the supporting reasons for your selections.

Standard

Within your paper, you must label your cell parts clearly as bronze, silver, and gold medal award-winning. Your final product must include at least one photograph of each cell part, along with at least three functions of each part you have chosen. You also must include a clear, detailed description of what would happen to the cell if the part you have chosen was not functioning properly within the cell.
