Exocytosis comes into play when the vesicles show up. During exocytosis, vesicles are trafficked(transported over a small distance), tethering(linking over distances more than half the diameter of the vesicle from a given membrane surface), next is docking(at the cell plasma membrane), then finally is fusion( the release of vesicle contents into the extracellular space).
