Does viruses have complex structures?

Viruses did not evolve first, they found. Instead, viruses and bacteria both descended from an ancient cellular life form. But while – like humans – bacteria evolved to become more complex, viruses became simpler. Today, viruses are so small and simple, they can't even replicate on their own.

While some have symmetrical shapes, viruses with asymmetrical structures are referred to as “complex. ” These viruses possess a capsid that is neither purely helical nor purely icosahedral, and may possess extra structures such as protein tails or a complex outer walls.

The job description of every virus is simple: enter a living cell, hijack its metabolic machinery and make progeny.
