Phenotypic changes are noticeable changes in the human body such as a change in height, eye color, hair color, etc. For any visible genetic change to occur a significant amount of change in the amino acid is necessary.Silent mutations lose effects of phenotypic change as it does not affect the required amount of amino acid for the required gene expression that has a noticeable effect. However, a change in a gene can result in phenotypic mutation. Some of these mutations are part of evolution and occur randomly which could be rapid or over time and some of the mutations could be a result of lab research and experimenting.Since, only 2% of the DNA is responsible for phenotypic change so it could only occur when specific genes are altered. When the alteration of nucleotide in a gene having exclusive phenotypic expression is affected, the gene expresses differently affecting and changing the phenotype in either a positive or abnormal manner.Genetic mutations in somatic cells are limited to the individual and could not be passed on from parent to offspring but mutation in the reproductive cell is passed on to offspring.
