Many different bacteria are rapidly evolving and becoming to treat effectuvely with antibiotics. Some bacteria have a gene that gives them the ability to survive antibiotic treatment. One example of MRSA Mathicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. Bacteria that have such a gene will survive treatment by the antibiotic Methicillin and multiply, while bacteria without gene will be killed by the antibiotic. Scientists have been studying the resistance of these types of bacteria over the past 20 years The results are shown below in Figure 1.
