During the drought, the farmers used extra fertilizer. As rained, the ammonia and nitrate from the fertilizer were washed into the river.

In the pigs produced 10 pounds of feces that contained ammonia and nitrate. The pit is too small to obtain such large amount. When it rained the waste overflowed in to the river.
