Although scientists have identified more than 2 million species on Earth, they estimate that there are millions more yet to be identified. As one example, there are 2,000 different species of shrimp recognized today. In 2009 in Indonesia, the hobbit shrimp, a hairy limbed little shrimp was discovered. The tiny, 1 cm long, shrimp apparently lives symbiotically within the tubular holes of another organism. The hobbit shrimp was given the name Odontonia bagginsi. Scientists continue to study the habits and characteristics of the hobbit shrimp today to see if they can discover more about its evolutionary relationships. Explain how scientists would place the hobbit shrimp on a cladogram to show evolutionary relationships with other organisms. Include the following ideas in your response:

•Describe the various pieces of evidence scientists would use when deciding where to place the hobbit shrimp (Consider the most compelling evidence)
• Outline HOW the evidence would be used to justify the evolutionary relationships and the placement of the hobbit shrimp on a cladogram. Use at least four lines of evidence in your explanation.
• Discuss what types of other organisms the scientists would compare the hobbit shrimp to when deciding where to place it on a cladogram. Time left for this SOGG
