A taproot will most likely benefit a desert plant because a taproot is a large long root that gets deep into the soil because in a desert the soul isnt fertile and is also sandy so a fibrous root system would be less beneficial because it will absorb less nutrients and will have a hard time clinging on a sandy soil while a taproot can reach further into the fertile part of the soil.
