How does competition for resources lead to adaptations?

Competition occurs in an ecosystem when the resources that the organisms in the environment need to survive become reduced. The competition can be intraspecific, that is, competition among organisms of the same specie or interspecific; competition among organisms of different species.

Competition for resources usually lead to various adaptations by the plants and animals. These organisms develop techniques that will give them advantage over their competitors when it comes to food and other resources. The more adaptable organisms are able to survive while those that are poor at adaptation are wipe out.
