Is a biomass pyramid always biggest at the bottom and getting smaller toward the top?

Its not that is getting smaller, its just that as you higher and higher up the biomass pyramid, more energy is loss..that's why it seems to be getting smaller. oh and its biggest at the bottom because energy is most at the bottom.
