Viruses have long been considered nonliving because they are simply bits of genetic material surrounded by a protein coat. They do not obtain or use energy
on their own, and they do not have the ability to reproduce on their own. They must first infect a host cell before any of these signs of life emerge. However,
new scientific evidence that examines the protein folds created by viruses is beginning to create additional controversy in the scientific community about the
