Welcome to the Caribbean Sea, home of the coral reef ecosystem and a great number of very fragile coral species. Reef systems can only live in water warmer than 18 degrees Celsius and cooler than 32 degrees Celsius. Also, coral must live in clear water that is approximately 49 meters deep because it needs exposure to sunlight to survive. As you can see, temperature and sunlight exposure are two important limiting factors in this area.
