The Galapagos Islands are home to variations of tortoises. The shapes of their shells are the most noticeable variation. The tortoise population on Isabela Island exhibits mostly dome shaped shells, but Hood Island has a large population of tortoises with the saddleback shells. A shell that is a hybrid between the dome and saddleback shells is exhibited on Pinta Island WHAT MIGHT BE SOME EXPLANATIONS FOR THE VARIATION IN SHELL?
