A salt crystal garden is grown using five ingredients: 3 tbsp. salt, 3 tbsp. food coloring, 3 tbsp. water, 3 tbsp. ammonia and a few charcoal briquettes. The first four ingredients were mixed together, and then the mixture was poured over the charcoal briquettes in a shallow bowl with the mixture coming up half-way on the briquettes. Crystals began growing after a few hours. The crystals were observed as they grew and growth was recorded. Is this a valid experimental design?
A) No, because it took the crystals too long to start growing.
B) No, since the color of the food coloring was not identified.
C) Yes, because the crystals grew faster and bigger than expected.
