Furthermore, when an organism eats another organism, then only 10% of energy of the biomass will be transferred into the organism while 90% of the energy is lost as heat energy.

When we go up in the energy pyramid, the number of organisms will reduce due to the fact that there is less food that's available for the organisms at the top of the pyramid. An example is when there are 100 herbivores that are present in a jungle while the carnivores are 10. It implies that there are typically fewer organisms at the top of an energy pyramid.
