Explanation:

Transcription refers to the process of the formation of RNA molecules from DNA molecules using DNA strands as a template.

Only one strand out of two DNA strands is involved in the process and the strand is known as coding strand which runs in the direction of 5' to 3'.

The process of transcription takes place in the following sequence:

1. Helicase enzyme binds to the DNA and unzips the two strands of DNA. This opens the helices of the DNA and the DNA gets open.

2. RNA polymerase binds to the promoter attached to the DNA and forms the single strand.

3. The RNA  nucleotides form complementary base pairs with the DNA and the RNA strand. A new complementary strand is made using complementary base pairing.

4. DNA helicase unzips the DNA and RNA hybrid.

5. The DNA and RNA get separated and the mRNA molecule formed in the nucleus exits the nucleus.

6. The two-strand of DNA is again joined via complementary base-pairing rule.
