So remember it was osmosis that caused the egg to swell up, well remember how osmosis works; water travels from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. When the egg was in pure water the water traveled INTO the egg, thats what made it larger. But if the egg is sitting in a syrup solution instead of pure water, what direction do you think the water will travel this time? Or in other words, do you think the egg will get larger, shrivel or stay the same?
