Heterochromla is a condition in which the eyes are two different colors. It is
very rare in humans, so when It occurs It really stands out. In life,
heterochromia does not suggest anything about a person's personality. But in
literature, heterochromatic characters can be considered both attractive and
creepy. Mismatched eyes often make people in a story uncomfortable, and they
suggest that the character isn't trustworthy.
Mismatched eyes can also indicate that a character haſ a dual nature or a
hidden personality. It can be a marker of wisdom or insanity, or sometimes
both. Since we can't change the color of our eyes, these characters cannot hide
their true natures.
In describing their characters, authors may not always deliberately associate
a certain eye color with particular traits. But if a character has unusual eyes,
there is a reason. Anytime you encounter a character with mismatched eyes,
pay attention to what it seems to suggest about the character's personality. In
other words, keep an eye on the eyes!
