For divergent boundaries, think of what happens when something diverges- it moves away from something. For divergent boundaries, two plates moves away from each other. This also occurs when two plates move past each other under an ocean, however; this is called sea floor spreading.

For convergent boundaries, the opposite of divergent boundaries happen. Two plates move toward each other and eventually collide, which can create earthquakes and mountains can even form.

With transform boundaries, two plates neither converge or diverge, they slide past each other. When two boundaries move, or slide, past each other, tension on each of the plates builds until that tension is released in a violent jolt, which is what we know of as earthquakes.
