Tsunamis are large and powerful ocean waves generated when earthquakes occur in the ocean. as evidenced by the picture, tsunamis can cause immense amounts of damage. why are tsunamis so destructive?
a) tsunamis carry material from the ocean which causes damage when they collide with land.
b) tsunamis often damage power plants, releasing energy that causes most of the destruction.
c) earthquakes deep under the ocean's surface are associated with volcanoes, tsunamis transmit this super-heated water to land.
d) when tectonic plates move against each other they generate large amounts of seismic energy which is transmitted by the waves of tsunamis.
