All organisms are dependent on water, no matter what level they are in the trophic pyramid. Plants are, for example, producers. They need water to survive. Water is absorbed from the soil through the roots and transported to the other parts of the plants so it could be used in different physiological processes. Similarly, animals that are consumers and feed on the producers or other consumers, as well as decomposers, need water for normal physiological functions.
