Create a pedigree with names based on the story below. be careful with construction! make sure to keep all generations in line and number each generation using roman numerals. you may put the pedigree on another sheet of paper and attach if you run out of room here.
bill and his wife, cindy, have 2 sons, john and jim. john married julia but sadly, they had a miscarriage. not wanting to suffer through another miscarriage, john and julia decided to adopt 2 children- a boy named kevin and a girl named nicole. jim married theresa and had a child named samuel. after samuel was born, theresa became pregnant again and had a baby girl this time – maria. they were so excited about being parents that they decided to have another child, but theresa suffered a miscarriage. unfortunately, the miscarriage put a lot of stress on their marriage and jim and theresa divorced.
it has been determined that cystic fibrosis (cf) runs in the family. cf is a recessive genetic disorder that causes thick and sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, resulting in difficulties with breathing. bill had cf and lived to the age of 55 before he succumbed to the disease. samuel also had cf and is doing well, currently. shade in the characters of those family members that had cf. what genotypes are cindy, bill, jim, theresa, samuel, and maria likely to have? fill these in on the chart.
