mitosis- Cell division that ends with only two daughter cells. Each daughter cell has the same amount and type of chromosomes as the parent cell. Ex: ordinary tissue growth

Meiosis- Cell division that ends with four daughter cells. Each daughter cell has only have the chromosomes of the parent cell.

Ex: production of gametes and plant spores
