Transcription

It is the first step in the protein synthesis during gene expression the nitrogenous base pairs  are copied or transcribed into mRNA (messenger RNA). The process of transcription take place in the nucleus and  it occurs in a sequential  manner.

The double helix DNA strands are unzipped by the breaking of H-Bonds between the nitrogenous base pairs.

This breakage of DNA strands is possible by the action of an  helicase enzyme  

The RNA polymerase enzyme binds to a strands of DNA in a non coding regions

The enzyme RNA polymerase travels along the DNA strand

H-bonds are formed when the free  nucleotides of RNA binds on the strands of DNA as a complementary base pairs.for the formation of a strand of  messenger RNA (mRNA)

Newly formed mRNA strand leaves the nuclear region and travels towards ribosomes

Translation:  

The newly formed mRNA strands travels via cytoplasm and bind to the ribosomes.

The three bases of mRNA the ribosomes adjoins one complementary molecule of tRNA. Each three bases of mRNA a codon

The ribosome receives a specific amino acids from a molecule of tRNA.Since there are 3 mRNA bases for each TRNA molecule they are termed as a triplet.

The tRNA molecule which transports a specific amino acid to the ribosome leaves to get another specific amino acid.

Likewise several hundred of amino acids are formed in a chain like manner  until the Original DNA is formed..The chain of amino acids called as a polypeptide chain.

To accomplish the process of translation the polypeptide  folded to form a shape and becomes a protein.

the protein synthesis consists two processes which are, transcription and translation. transcription takes place in the nucleus. it uses dna as a template to make an rna molecule. rna then leaves the nucleus and goes to a ribosome in the cytoplasm, where translation occurs. transcription is the first part of the central dogma of molecular biology: dna → rna. it is the transfer of genetic instructions in dna to messenger rna (mrna). during transcription, a strand of mrna is made that is complementary to a strand of dna.  

these three stages are:

  initiation: in which   is the beginning of transcription.occuring when the enzyme rna polymerase binds to a region of a gene called the promoter. this signals the dna to unwind so the enzyme can ‘‘read’’ the bases in one of the dna strands. the enzyme is now ready to make a strand of mrna with a complementary sequence of bases.

    elongation: in which is the addition of nucleotides to the mrna strand. rna polymerase reads the unwound dna strand and builds the mrna molecule, using complementary base pairs. there is a brief time during this process when the newly formed rna is bound to the unwound dna. during this process, an adenine (a) in the dna binds to an uracil (u) in the rna.

    termination: in which is the ending of transcription, and occurs when rna polymerase crosses a stop (termination) sequence in the gene. the mrna strand is complete, and it detaches from dna.
