Cells use a molecule called to store and release energy like a battery. the energy is stored in chemical bonds between groups of the molecule, and the energy is released when the chemical bonds are broken.

Explanation:

Adenosine tri phosphate (ATP) is known as the energy cell of living organism. Basically the energy is stored in the phosphate group (which is responsible for establishing a connection between a phosphate group and the rest of the molecule). ATP allows storage of energy at one place which on requirement can be moved from one part of the cell to the other or to another cell as well.  

This energy is used to drive biochemical reactions and metabolic process.
