The cells in the lungs are responsible for the inhalation and exhalation of air within the system and away from the system. Air mostly involves oxygen that is taken in and the carbon dioxide that is given out.

If the cells of the lungs get affected then the availability of oxygen to rest of the system would become difficult thereby letting the cells in hypoxia. The cells of the lungs provide flexibility to the lung to inhale and exhale air that is oxygen and carbon dioxide, that fuels the cells of the entire body.
