The term polarity means the state of a molecule or an atom having both positive and negative charges in case of magnetic and an electric poles. The polar molecule is generally formed when one end of the molecule has more number of either positive charge or negative charge at the other end.

The bond in the polar molecule is said to be polar bond. In polar bond, the center of negative charge on one side and center of positive charge in the opposite side. Generally, the molecules with pyramid shape and V-shape are said to be polar molecule.  

The water is a good example of polar molecule. In water, the electronegativity of the oxygen is higher than the hydrogen.
