If the child is born with blue eyes, would the pair of alleles the child carries be homozygous or heterozygous? can blue eyes ever be heterozygous?

Having blue eyes is a recessive trait. Blue eyes will almost always result in two recessive, homozygous alleles (bb). Eyes are a bit complicated though, because 7% of people with blue eyes have heterozygous alleles. So basically, the general rule is that most children born with blue eyes have homozygous alleles, but their are rare genetic possibilities. I’m not an expert on this and mainly just trying to recall what I learned in 7th grade science, so I hope this helps. :)
