What are the two different types of assaults? what is the difference between an assault and a homicide?

Felonious assault is an illegal attack or attempted attack.  Simple assault occurs when no weapon was used in the commission of the act and the resulting injuries were minor.  

An assault is an illegal attack or attempted attack.  A homicide is the unlawful killing of another person.

(Aggravated assault and Simple assault go under the same category, I just wanted to evaluate on the answer.)

Aggravated assault: the unlawful attack on another person with the intent of severe injury.

Simple assault: the unlawful attack on a person without a weapon; usually resulting in a person who is not seriously harmed.

Intimate-partner assault: assault between two people in an intimate relationship.

Assault is the unlawful attack or attempted attack onto another person. Homicide is the unlawful killing of another person.
