The chemical reactions need the initial amount of energy to proceed with the reaction. The initial required energy is called the activation energy.  The activation energy is very high for the reactions to occur and the rate of reaction would be slow. The enzyme or biocatalyst, lower the activation energy of a reaction and increase the rate of reaction. Thus, enzyme A in the question reduces the time of a reaction by lowering the activation energy.  

 Part B

For the catalytic function, the enzyme binds substrate on its active site.  The actives on enzymes are specific for the substrates to a chemical reaction. The binding of the substrate with the active site is very sensitive to changes in the enzyme’s environment. Factors such as a change in temperature and pH may affect the active site and enzyme function.
